This painting is Kakahi again and is about light
and life reflected off a dark brackish puddle –
as it goes down slow – to the river.
Looking from inside open cattle-grazed bush
on the banks of the Whakapapa, upper
Whanganui River.
The blue in top left of the painting is the cliffs
on other side of the river. Dark in shade under
the morning sun. The brilliant sun is sparkling
off the river, catching the dew from the night
and lighting things up like the stained glass
window in a church.
